Employee Spotlight: Scott Soltys-Curry, Leader in User Experience Design

At Zentra, our success is driven by the dedication and creativity of our talented team members. This month, we’re excited to spotlight Scott Soltys-Curry, our Lead Interaction Designer. Scott’s passion for user-centered design and commitment to developing seamless software solutions are helping shape Zentra’s future.

From Web Design to User Experience Leadership

Scott’s journey into user experience (UX) design was a natural progression fueled by his curiosity. He began his career as a web designer and developer at a small SEO firm in Carmel, Indiana. Before long, his interest in user interaction led him to rethink the way websites were built. This insight launched him into the world of UX design, where he delved into how people engage with digital products. With his blend of design skills and user-focused insight, Scott found his true calling in user experience design, expertly bridging the gap between user needs and business strategies.

Driving Impact at Zentra

As Zentra’s Lead Interaction Designer and User Experience Team Lead, Scott oversees a team of interaction designers, user interface designers, and researchers. Together, they ensure that Zentra’s software is intuitive, user-friendly, and meets customer needs.

Scott collaborates closely with product and engineering leaders to identify and solve user challenges. Under his guidance, the team has developed design principles that direct their work:

Smart: Solutions that simplify decision-making and reduce cognitive load for users.

Simple: Workflows that align with users’ mental models and require minimal training.

Secure: Features that provide peace of mind and ensure property security.

“We focus intensely on our users and their needs. Every feature we design is informed by direct feedback, user interviews, and data. Our goal is to make their day-to-day lives easier by creating solutions that are smart, simple, and secure,” Scott explained.

Proud Moments: NFC Credential for Apple Wallet

A standout achievement for Scott at Zentra has been his role in developing the NFC credential for Apple Wallet. As one of the first solutions to introduce resident keys in Apple Wallet, this project underscores Zentra’s commitment to innovative and user-friendly access solutions. From its early stages as a confidential initiative to its successful implementation, the project has provided residents with a seamless and modern way to access their homes.

Beyond Work: Community and Creativity

Outside of Zentra, Scott is passionate about community engagement. He leads monthly bike rides with the Cultural Trail in Indianapolis and collaborates on projects with the Colts and the local library. When he’s not cycling or volunteering, Scott enjoys spending time with his husband, their three cats, and their dog. He’s also an artist and finds joy in creating and sharing his work.

Scott Soltys-Curry: A True Advocate for User Experience

Scott’s journey and contributions embody the spirit of innovation and collaboration that drive Zentra forward. His dedication to enhancing user experiences and empowering his team inspires us all as we continue to deliver intuitive and impactful solutions.
